After 1.75m legal downloads being bought in Q3, 2004 in the UK alone, which would translate into around 250,000 dance music downloads, DJ Magazine has joined forces with three dance music experts to launch the UK's biggest dance download site –

The long awaited new site created by dance music lovers, for dance music lovers, was launched in February. was started by three dance music lovers - friends Guy Osborne, Justin Pearse and Adam Cubey. Sick of the hard work often involved in finding a track, the guys looked at how many DJ's were downloading music and fell upon the idea for the site.

'There are some great music download sites but few which specialised in dance music' said Guy. 'Being complete dance music enthusiasts we wanted to create a site that would be easy to use and could offer everyone the inside track – from the clubber who just wants tunes for their MP3 player, to the amateur DJ who is planning his next set and needs a rare remix'.

Building on the DJ Magazine brand, the service aims to be a first class, globally focused, one-stop dance music download site. This ground-breaking integration between print and digital media is a world-first in linking independent editorial information directly to a digital store. Both the readers of DJ magazine and DJDownload's customers will be better placed to identify and buy the music they want. has launched with over 180 labels, virtually unheralded in the industry. 20 have been added post launch and another 120 are in the pipeline.
