Sultan & The Greek - Rezin/Wadi

These two guys really started to go up-and-up, working on massive remixes such as Portishead and also original tracks included on albums like GU025 Toronto mixed by Deep Dish. This is another quality release of the duo Sultan & The Greek (a.k.a Tone Depth), three tracks absolutely amazing, with a clearly deep house tune. No compromise, no porn samples, no envy, just pure melody. Shinichi really experienced new sounds this year by promoting such a high-class work. I have to say this is a quality double vinyl, and as many others probably said it before, music will always be an amusement that will never do any harm.

On the a-side is the original mix of "Rezin", a very special and impressive song, with a deep meaning in its ins and outs, also featured on GU025 compilation last year. The track is based on a perfect rhythm, a nice and complicated bass line, which fads with beautiful and short synths and riffs. The hypnotic melody has something appealing and emotional in its own; it contains a beautiful and profound extravagance. It is an optimistic sound, simple on a closer look but so damn magic in the same time.

While the rhythm of the original mix is quite unchanged, the Valentino remix is more dynamic and lively. There is a beautiful breakdown which fads in and out with little percussion elements, giving a more playful view to the track. With an excellent boarding, in a very personal manner, Valentino tries to give a powerful rhythm, eliminating, or well saying transforming the classic sound into a different and very special one. The particular effects and the solid contribution are obviously, flooding into a place. I should mention the fact that Valentino really succeeded in this personal interpretation.

"Wadi", the other track from the vinyl, is what impressed me the most, maybe "in fault" being that amazing and pleasant voice on the song. In a simple bass line, the track opens new atmospheres, new spaces and dimensions. A smooth and soft melodic line is giving the peaceful aspect. The rhythm is quite similar to the first song but it adds new quality and bizarre synths cut by the beautiful vocals. Simple but profound melody, the track fails in getting lost in mediocrity; it really is a superior and massive deep house release.

So, new electronic beats are given by the collaboration between Sultan and his mate Tone Depth. Every new release should be for electronic music lovers a reason of joy and emotion, because, unaware, these things can change our mentalities, our way of living, can be a positive eye for reality.
